I visited El Salvador's little gem, a cute little surfing town of El Tunco, in May 2014, when it was only just starting to show it's potential to visitors. This small country on the Pacific coast of Central America, often considered to be one of the unsafest destinations in the world, is slowly starting to gain a friendlier feel.
During my visit in El Salvador violence and gang stuff were still a huge problem - however El Tunco was cool. Only a 30 min drive to the South from the capital of San Salvador, it makes a perfect little stop if you are travelling through Central America and fancy a few days of relaxed surfing village feel.
